Botulinum Toxin A

Botulinum toxin (BoNT), sometimes known as Botox, is a neurotoxin generated by the bacteria Clostridium botulinum and related species. It stops the neurotransmitter acetylcholine from being released from axon terminals at the neuromuscular junction, resulting in flaccid paralysis. Botulism is caused by the toxin. The toxin is also employed in the medicinal and cosmetic industries.Types A through G denote the seven major botulinum toxin types (A, B, C1, C2, D, E, F and G). New varieties are discovered on a regular basis. Types A and B can cause sickness in people and are utilised economically and therapeutically. Types C-G are less prevalent; types E and F can cause illness in humans, whilst the others can cause sickness in other animals. Botulinum toxin types A and B are utilised in the treatment of muscular spasms.
